It’s hard to believe that 2008 is already gone. It seems like just yesterday we were paying over $4.00 per gallon for gas. Oh, that’s right, it was just a few weeks ago. The price fluctuation for gas is a good reminder of how quickly change can happen, and sometimes it is positive change. EMH saw a lot of positive change in 2008 that seemed slow when it was occurring ,but in retrospect, came quickly. Funds will always be tight because we serve as many participants as we can, but our budget is in considerably better shape than it was year ago. As a result, we have plans to expand our existing programs, especially the equine program. The ski program and the swimming program will see more opportunity for participation, though limited by the facilities available.

My goal for this past year was to make EMH a familiar name in the community. Judging by the success of our annual fund raiser and the responses we get when visiting with local people, I believe we have made significant progress. EMH is developing a strong and positive image and it looks as though a tradition is developing with our annual cooler auction.

Our success is a group effort made possible by volunteers, instructors,a dedicated Board, donars and participants. I look forward to 2009. Current economic conditions will make fundraising more involved, but I am optimistic that Helena will show its generosity.

Thanks to all of you. I hope the New Year brings health and prosperity for each one of you!
